Background Inflammatory activation of CD8+ T cells can, when left unchecked, drive severe
immunopathology. Hyperstimulation of CD8+ T cells through a broad set of triggering
signals can precipitate hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a life-threatening
